Use of the public internet machines and catalog machines

The Cottage Grove Public Library has 10 public Internet machines available for use by our patrons. Patrons can use one of these machines for up to 1 hour every day we are open, provided there is no waiting list. During periods of high demand this time limit may be reduced to 1/2 hour per day. These machines provide a web browser and a simple word processing environment. Hard copy can be printed out at a cost of $0.10/page,  with a maximum size of 20 pages per printout.

The Library provides no content filtering of any sort, and parents are urged to supervise their children's use of these machines if this is a concern. Downloading of obscene or objectionable material will not be tolerated, and patrons who are found to be doing so may be asked to leave and/or banned from use of these machines.

In addition to these public Internet machines, the Library has 2 card catalog machines. These machines are to be used solely for looking up Library holdings, and any other use is prohibited.

Finally, the Library provides an open WiFi hotspot for use by our patrons during business hours.  There is currently no time limit in effect for use of this hotspot, though this may change depending on usage. Up to 10 patrons may use this hotspot at one time. Large downloads or other resource intensive activities are discouraged, and may be disallowed at the Library's discretion.
