Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.
Who can get a card
Cottage Grove Public Library cards are available at no charge for patrons who live within the city limits of Cottage Grove. For patrons outside the city limits the yearly cost for a card is $20 for seniors (62 and over) and $40 for everyone else.
How to Get Your Card
Registration for a library card is available at the front desk during the Library's normal business hours.
Borrowing Limits
The Library has very few borrowing limits.
- First time borrowers can check out only 4 items on their initial visit.
- 5 videos per household. Videos go out for 1 week.
- Books in the general collection can be checked out for 4 weeks.
- New books can be checked out for 2 weeks.
- Holiday items can be checked for 1 week.
Placing Holds
Holds can be placed on materials borrowed from the Library's collection, but not on materials borrowed through Inter-Library Loan. Holds can be placed by phone or at the front desk during normal business hours, or over the Internet .
Renewing Your Borrowed Items
Items can be renewed once if no hold has been placed on it. Renewals can be made by phone or at the front desk during normal business hours, or over the Internet . Materials borrowed through Inter-Library Loan cannot be renewed.
Library Fines
The Library charges the following fines for overdue materials:
- $0.10/day for each overdue book.
- $0.10/day for each overdue book on tape.
- $0.10/day for each overdue CD.
- $0.10/day for each overdue magazine.
- $0.50/day for each overdue video.
